Name: Swoop (Also sold as Terranotron)
Alternate Mode: Pteranadon
Thanks to Griffin for loaning me Swoop for this review.
Height: 6cm Length: 12.5cm Width: 14cm
A slate blue pteranadon with yellow spots of paint on his, arms, back and tail. He has red eyes and white teeth and a stamped Autobot logo on his head, between the eyes, and some connecting pieces which are a pale orange. The individual colours used here are all nice hues, but they don't work together especially well. He's a repaint of BW's Terrorsaur, so the add-on of the Autobot logo ends up being particularly forced. It probably goes without saying that the colours don't really come across as realistic.
He's got outspread wings, a jaw that opens and closes and a neck that lets him look down - although the robot mode feet get in the way of this, since they hang (noticeably) under his neck. He has ankles that move but they only fold forward so he can fall forward and not look up. Being from the first series of Beast Wars, he's got lots of skin detailing - with scaly skin and smooth outstretched membranes for wings - which is a nice touch. He even gets the fingers on the outside of his wings and skin moulding on the underside of his arms
Swoop has limited play value in this mode, but he has good detail. I personally don't mind the colour scheme - I actually like it in a weird way - but the detailing is probably his strong point in this mode.
TRANSFORMATION TO ROBOT MODE
Since this mould is an early Beast Wars basic, he's got an auto-transform. Lift the head and a spring, a couple of gears and some hinges do most of the work. Position his hands & ankles and give him his gun (which lives in a compartment behind his head).
Height: 13cm Width: 14cm
Thanks to his wingspan, Swoop is wider than he is tall. He's a slate blue robot with orange upper arms, groin and thighs. He has blue wings, chest, forearms, knees and feet. His hands, shins and head are painted purple, his face is silver with red eyes and the crest on his head is painted cobalt blue. He's also got a yellow stripe on his chest, since that's formed from his beast mode tail section. Like the reptile mode, this colour scheme doesn't gel - in fact it's worse than his beast mode since there's so much more orange. There are two more stamped Autobot logos, on the wings. They work better there than on the beast head, at least.
The wings are pointing down, meaning that in this mode the tips point up, and he looks rather impressive like this. While his beast mode pretty much sits there looks like a pteranadon, Swoop's robot mode is very poseable. He's got ball joints in his neck, elbows, shoulders, hips & knees, with hinges on his ankles & wrists. All are tight enough to allow a lot of posing, although the mass of the backpack - with wings - mean you've got to get the ankles right or he'll overbalance.
It's a nice robot mode, and the slate blue is a nice twist to this mould, but the colours really clash. The Autobot logos works well here, but the painted head is a mess.
None that I'm aware of, although as mentioned he was sold both as Swoop and Terranotron. He is a repaint of Terrorsaur and shares the mould with Lazorbeak and Fractyl.
A fairly poor repaint of a fun BW basic mould. The colours used would all work alongside dull colours, but they're all competing for attention. If this was the easiest version of the mould to obtain, I could recommend him - but it's trickier to find that the others - 6.5/10
