Individual Review

Name: Mixmaster
Series: Generation 1
Allegiance: Decepticon
Function: Materials Fabrication
Alternate Mode: Cement Mixer

MIXER MODE
Height: 4cm Length: 9cm Width: 3.5cm

A lime green cement mixer truck, with a rather boxy green cab, and a green mixer section. The windshield is purple, the front grill silver. Otherwise Mixmaster is almost entirely green. Well, he _is_ a Constructicon..

The mixing drum spins, the front wheels and both sets of rear wheels rotate, although he doesn't roll all that well, especially if, like mine, your Mixmaster sags at the front. Devastator's big handgun can sit in a hole just in front of the drum, and his handgun can fit atop the cab. While the big gun looks cool, the small one does not. I'd leave it off.

Overall, well... he's very green. But he's pretty good. Smallish, but a very good cement mixer for it's size.

TRANSFORMATION TO ROBOT MODE

Rotate the cab over 180 degrees, pull out the rear wheels to form the arms and position them. Give him his gun & missile.

ROBOT MODE
Height: 10.5cm Width: 4cm

With a lot more purple in this mode, Mixmaster's got a markedly different colour scheme as a robot. With green feet, purple & silver legs, purple chest, green arms, black head and a green hood, he looks pretty good.

Mixmaster is effectively one solid piece in this mode, since there's no gap between his legs or feet - although there is a groove down the purple inner thighs and another on the green feet. The overall effect isn't horrible, but a gap would be nice, even if only on the thighs.

The overhead missile launcher is cool, you're even given the choice of a single or double missile. I prefer the double missile, although it has trouble staying horizontal. As with all really early missile launchers, it doesn't shoot very far. His arms swing up and down, though the shoulders are a little far down the arms. Overall, it looks nice, but Mixmaster's robot mode doesn't do all that much.

VARIATIONS

There was the late G1 "European" Mixmaster & the yellow orange G2 versions (none of which had a missile launcher), but no variations of G1 Mixmaster as such.

OVERALL

Of a similar standard to the other Constructicons. Fun, nice looking but of fairly limited play value. He's good as part of the set, and nice for his size by himself, but if you're not getting the set I wouldn't hunt too hard for Mixmaster. I do like him, mind you, but he's complimented by the other Constructicons, 6.5/10
