Defensor Toy Review

Individual Review

Name: Defensor
Series: Generation 1
Allegiance: Autobot
Function: Super Warrior
Alternate Mode: N/A - Gestalt comprising Blades, First Aid, Groove, Hot Spot & Streetwise.

Height: 21cm Width: 18cm

A fusion of four white and one baby blue Protectobots, with generous amounts of black and red thrown in, Defensor looks like he's ready for urban protection - which is of course exactly what he's meant to look like. His added bits (chestplate, groin, hands, feet) are all black. His head, which is actually part of Hot Spot, is also black, with a silver face and red eyes. It's got a very well defined mouth, nose and chin.

The standard configuration is First Aid as left arm, Blades as right arm, Groove right leg and Streetwise left leg, but they all work as arms and legs. Whilst all four limbs are clearly different types of vehicles, the fact they're all white unifies this Gestalt very well.

He's quite well armed, since Groove & Blades' side guns can stay attached, and he uses Hot Spot's twin fireball cannons. His poseability is about average for a Scramble City Gestalt - the shoulders rotate and the head turns, although this is somewhat limited by the ladder hanging off the back of the head.

Blades, First Aid & Hot Spot were available with metal or plastic chestplates, whilst Groove was available with a gold or a silver chestplate. Streetwise got shafted and never had a metal chestplate.

Defensor _looks_ like a good guy. You could really believe he's there to save the city. None of his component toys are weak in themselves, although Groove's something of an acquired taste. The colours unify the five components really well, and as a result he's a Gestalt I really like - 9/10, losing a point for poseability.
