Name: Sentinel Prime
Series: Bot Shots
Allegiance: Autobot
Alternate Mode: Fire Truck
FIRE TRUCK MODE
Height: 3cm Length: 5.5cm Width: 4cm
A small superdeformed red fire truck with black tyres, Sentinel Prime is black in the middle section with some silver on his roof while the strobes on his roof are painted blue & the front windshield painted a metallic blue. It's a simple colour scheme but does enough to get the point across - and I appreciate that we get three different colours of paint here. My only knock on his colours is that while the front and rear tyres have visible slider pins at the centre, the (false) middle tyres don't, which gives away his dirty secret too easily.
There are quite a lot of sculpted details here, although many are lost amongst black plastic. The front windows are obvious along with the spoiler on the back - although I'm not really sure why a fire truck _has_ a spoiler.
Sentinel Prime works well enough here. The false tyres are a mild annoyance but overall he's a decent effort for a chibi vehicle this size. The sculpt is decent and there's enough paint to make this mode work well. I'm just not sure about the spoiler.
TRANSFORMATION TO ROBOT MODE
In theory you have to crash him headlong into another Bot Shot. You can always just press on the front bumper. Either way, through internal gears and springs he'll stand up on his feet (between the rear wheels), the front will flip back to reveal his head and the rear wheels pop out to form arms.
ROBOT MODE
Height: 5cm Width: 6.5cm
A red robot with a silver face and blue eyes, the silver screwheads visible on his chest (which all Bot Shots have) are well concealed on the false windshields, painted blue. His arms and legs are black & there's also the spinning panel on his chest which will be either red, blue or green depending on position. The red and black is a vastly simplified interpretation of Sentinel Prime's colours but this colour scheme actually looks pretty good here.
As with all Bot Shots, this is a very short, chibi robot. The feet are big while the legs are vestigial, the torso short and the head huge. His arms splay out to the sides and there's a backpack in the form of the front of the truck. Aside from the spinning panel, there's no play value here. His facial features are very un-movie like - they're more in line with G1 - especially the blue eyes.
The scores on his chest are Sword 775 (red); Blaster 485 (blue) & Fist 360 (green).
A nice robot mode with a good colour scheme and unlike most Bot Shots the screws on his chest don't stand out. The G1 style face does make sense on the character but does work on this toy.
VARIATIONS
There's a transparent Super version, which is at least in theory much rarer.
OVERALL
Bot Shots are incredibly simple, cutesy Transformers. You're either going to appreciate them or hate the concept. Conceptually Sentinel Prime is one of the more marginal, but the relatively generous paint job, good robot colours & painted chest all work in his favour. The spoiler in vehicle mode makes no sense, however & the false wheels aren't ideal. More interesting than many other Bot Shots at least - 7/10
