Individual Review

Name: Aquastar
Series: Japanese Generation 1
Allegiance: Autobot
Alternate Mode: Engine

Thanks to heroic decepticon for loaning me Aquastar for this review

ENGINE MODE
Height: 2cm Length: 3cm Width: 2.5cm

A royal blue, aqua and chrome copper engineblock, Aquastar is a repaint of Hotwire/Ranger (minus the Transformer). The chrome copper is a very unusual colour, and really helps this otherwise uneventful mode stand out.

I guess the basic idea of these individually-packaged Godmaster is that he can combine with any Transtector - not just Joyride or Ranger. So if you have a bunch of Godmasters, you can enhance your play. As an adult collector, this engine mode doesn't offer that same level of creativity, however.

TRANSFORMATION TO ROBOT MODE

Unclip the aqua sides and fold out to form legs, stand him up.

ROBOT MODE
Height: 5cm Width: 2.5cm

It's not really a robot, mind you. While Aquastar received no characterisation, Godmasters are essentially humans in suits, and it would be logical to assume that Aquastar is actually a human. Anyway, his suit has aqua limbs, a blue torso and the copper engine on it's back. The face is aqua with no discernible detail.

The play value is same as other God/Powermaster engines - the arms swing at the shoulders. It's a nice colour scheme but overall an unremarkable figure. I guess it adds more humans to your Masterforce play scenes.

VARIATIONS

None that I know of. As mentioned, he is a repaint of Hotwire & Ranger.

OVERALL

A nice colour scheme on a rather unremarkable figure - Aquastar is probably the best of the sold-separarely Godmaster engines. While I wouldn't say that makes this tricky to find figure worth paying for, if you do want one, he'd be the one I'd recommend, simple because of his colours. He doesn't do much, but there's novelty value in an "extra" God/Powermaster minifigure. Given his relative scarcity & price, combined with his absence from the TF media, I can't recommend him unless you're a completist or really dig God/Powermasters - 5/10
