TRUCK MODE
Height: 4cm Length: 13cm Width: 6cm (cab is 2x5x2.5)

   A rather drab army green, navy blue and grey truck, Roughstuff's cab is mainly green while the blue and grey are concentrated at the back of the trailer. There are eight black wheels, four on the cab and four on the trailer, although the rearmost set is actually hidden and there are three sets of rather unconvincing faux tyres painted on. While this isn't ideal, it's better than the unpainted faux wheels on a lot of Transformers. The colours aren't at all inspiring, but are appropriate for a military truck so I'm not complaining.

   While the cab is a fairly well defined military truck cabin, the trailer is a bit of a mess. It's not much more than a folded up plane, with two large grey missiles and a smaller twin barrelled black gun between the missiles. There are two mounts towards the front of the trailer which look like they're meant for the missiles - and the missiles' posts do indeed fit, but the back of the missiles will get in the way.

   While the cabin is nice, the trailer isn't much really. It's little more than a plane with the plane bits stowed, and really feels like the designer walked away before he was finished. Roughstuff's truck mode manages to be passable, mainly because the trailer ends up as a giant weapons array, but this is probably the worst vehicle mode of the four Micromaster Transports.

TRANSFORMATION TO ROBOT AND JET MODES

   Remove the trailer, fold the wheelbase down to form his legs, fold up the hitch to form feet, flip up the head and you're done. This transformation is a simplified version of that seen on the cab of Powermaster Prime in that the front of the truck ends up on his back.

   Fold the wings down to the sides, flip out the nose of the plane. Detach the gun, plug it into those holes at the front of the trailer's body and sit Roughstuff underneath the bar that lifts up from the floor of the cockpit.

ROBOT MODE
Height: 5cm Width: 2cm

   The robot is a mixture of grey plastic on his feet and chest, army green on his arms, head and back and navy blue legs. He has a red face with a decent sculpt that comes out remarkably well compared to most Micromasters burdened with a red face. While the colours are drab, I quite like the look of this robot.

   With black tyres on his ankles and a hitch post between them, Roughstuff doesn't really have too much in the way of truck features in this mode, since it's all on his back. There are moulded doors on the outsides of his arms which can lift up 90.

   While this isn't an exceptional robot mode, it's quite solid. He can sit down, which is part of the Micromaster Transport thing. The colours certainly make him look evil, in a Marvel comics kind of way, which is I think part of the reason I like the way the colours work in this mode.

JET MODE
Height: 3.5cm Length: 13.5cm Width: 12cm

   A green tray with swept back navy wings and a blue nose, along with a navy gunmount at the front, grey missiles, a black gun and black safety bar. The colours are laid out reasonably well, and certainly make more sense than they did on the trailer - but that's because the trailer itself was a folded up plane.

   The missiles are quite large in proportion, and dominate the wings they sit on top of. The gunmount works quite well, and the guns can lift up and down as one. This plane mode still rolls on the four trailer wheels, and there's a peg in the cockpit for Roughstuff himself to attach. Roughstuff can't sit plugged in - he has to float around and needs the safety bar to keep him in place. He can stand on the peg, and if you lift his arms over the bar looks quite natural at the helm, even if standing at the controls of an open plane seems absurd.

   This jet really looks like a dogfighting plane rather than a bomb, the heat-skeeing missiles on the wings would probably have so much thrust that it'd fall out of the sky when they launch. It doesn't help that it's proportionally small for a jet, I don't get the feeling it's powerful at all, sort of like a hoverboard with nuclear warheads or something (c8

   While Roughstuff commands this plane quite naturally, it's a mediocre plane in itself. The detachable missiles and gunmount along with the easily detached safety bar are commonly missing on the secondary market, and without these it's not really much use at all.

VARIATIONS

   None that I'm aware of.

OVERALL

   The weakest of the Micromaster Transports, despite the fact that Roughstuff isn't the worst figure on his own. The truck cabin and robot modes are both fairly good, but the cab needs a trailer and the trailer supplied sucks. The jet is somewhat better, but not enough to make this a good set - 5.5/10
