Alternate Mode: Sports Car
Height: 2cm Length: 7cm Width: 3.5cm
A black sports cars with metallic blue painted windows & dull yellow paints stripes on the doors & hood; Bumblebee has a silver engineblock & silver headlights. There's a small red Autobot logo stamped on the yellow bumper while the rear of the car is unpainted. The black & yellow Bumblebee repaints are now somewhat common & while the colours work well enough, this repaint doesn't stand out at all as a result. It's a solid colour scheme with enough paint apps at this level.
There's not much to this car mode; it looks like a stylised version of a real sports car (although I don't think it's any real model) & has a basic sculpt featuring elements such as side mirrors, a badge at the back & grille struts on the front. While nothing really stands out, there are no real flaws here either. Play value is about all we can expect - the black plastic wells turn & the weapon can mount into a hole on top of his roof. The transparent yellow-green of the weapon doesn't quite fit into his colour scheme but doesn't clash either.
A solid if unspectacular vehicle mode, the colours work, the sculpt is decent & the play value ticks what boxes it can at this size. Overall it's a good vehicle mode despite being forgettable.
TRANSFORMATION TO ROBOT MODE
Detach and set aside the gun, if attached. Pull the doors out to the sides to form his arms, split the rear to form his legs & fold down the feet. Swing down the front of the car to form his chest & reveal his head, swing the arms down & place the weapon in either hand.
Height: 7cm Width: 5cm
A black robot with a yellow head, yellow knees & a largely yellow torso. Bumblebee has a silver face with blue eyes, that red Autobot logo on the centre of his chest & the silver headlights also on his chest. While the yellow knees are quite odd the overall colour scheme works well and the layout makes sense.
A fairly stocky robot mode with big boots & a rather blocky feel for a Bumblebee toy. The head is well sculpted for a small toy although his eyes are very prominent.
There's not much play value here; the shoulders & hips are ball joints - the latter somewhat restricted - and that's all the poseability he gets. The weapon can plug into either hand as a sword or bayonet, but frankly it does clash now, as the yellow is more prominent on Bumblebee himself.
A fairly blocky & uninspiring robot mode, but one that lacks any flaws aside from the awful colour of his weapon. A little more poseability would have made a significant difference here, but Bumblebee's robot mode is still decent.
None that I'm aware of.
Yet another Bumblebee & yet another black version of Bumblebee. At this pricepoint I can live with the repaint - I grabbed him on clearance too - but this isn't an inspiring mould nor is the repaint noteworthy. Both modes are decent but this is an uninspiring toy which feels aimed at the "shut kid up while shopping" market. Earlier legends Bumblebee toys are better, so an easy pass despite being a solid enough toy - 5/10
