Series: Robots in Disguise
Alternate Mode: Jeep
(Recolour of Swindle)
Height: 3cm Length: 8cm Width: 4cm
Rollbar's vehicle mode is an olive green coloured open-top FMC XR311 (a Jeep-like vehicle). He's got a silver windshield, The front fades to a mint green, and he's got black tyres - which are actually black plastic - the other colours in this mode are painted on. On the back of the jeep is a Decepticon ensignia, which is also painted on. The front of the vehicle has headlights, but lacks the rubsign indent of the original Swindle toy.
You can mount his big gun on top of a hole behind his seats and the little gun can sit on the side of this big gun, which adds some play value. It's a pretty standard Jeep, otherwise. There's nothing really distinct about this vehicle mode. There's nothing bad about it, mind you. The colours are pretty good, although the mint is a little unrealistic.
TRANSFORMATION TO ROBOT MODE
Fold the front of the jeep over, pull out the rear section to become the feet and flip them over. Pull out the arms and put a gun in each hand.
Height: 7cm Width: 5cm
Rollbar has a black head, olive green painted eyes, olive green arms & feet, black thighs. His chest is painted red over a bse grey plastic which is visible around the sides. The brighter red gives the moulded chest shape definition and hides the fact his torso is a square. This is a clear improvement on Swindle. The colour scheme is quite good, easily better than G2 Swindle (which isn't hard) and probably slightly better than G1 Swindle, too.
Probably the most distinctive feature of Rollbar is the shape of his robot mode. He's squat and wide. If he were a human, he'd be dangerously overweight. Oh and considering he's a Scramble City limb, he's got a small head - which makes it look worse. The proportions aren't that bad, and they've masked it pretty well thanks to the paint job.
The Decepticon logo from the Jeep mode is now on his left foot, and it looks pretty good there, despite ... well despite the fact his logo is on his foot. What does look bad is the fact that his arms are attached at the elbows. And they stick out a fair way from the body, to allow them to move, so you really can't miss the big posts on his elbows attaching to his waist.
As mentioned, his arm move, well they swing at the elbows, when they should really be swinging at the shoulders. Oh, and you can attach his guns to each fist. The smaller one looks fine, the bigger one just looks too big, and not in a powerful way, more a holding someone else's gun way.
A reuse of the Swindle mould, Rollbar is actually a slight repaint of Greijeeper from Car Robots. That toy is darker and lacks the mint green.
There are Arctic and desert camo versions, from the respective Ruination giftsets.
Despite the improvements in the paint job, This is still a mediocre mould. Add ten years and it's also fairly outdated. The addition of mint green is a step backwards IMO, but the red paint on the chest is good. Without much personality in the show, this is the sort of toy you get for the Gestalt. He's okay, without being terrible or terrific - 5/10
