Series: Movie Tie-ins
Alternate Mode: Chevy Impala Racing Car
Height: 3cm Length: 8cm Width: 4cm
A green and white heavily armoured stock racing car, Roadbuster is decked out in gunmetal armour & weaponry. There's not really all that much left of the stock car, it's overrun by the weaponry. There's a white "88" on the roof and red "88"s on the doors along with a small white Chevy logo on his hood. There's a silver Autobot logo stamped on the spoiler, rounding out a fairly complex paint mask for such a small toy.
Like Leadfoot, he's stuck in "attack" mode (making Topspin the odd one out). There's not much Impala here, since the weaponry really dominates visually. Amongst the prominent features are a gatling gun sticking out the front, a souped up engine block, a raised spoiler revealing a rocket engine and a massive chainsaw on the left side. The chainsaw can swing forward, giving him some play value. It can even swing away and stow underneath, although I don't think this was an intentional aspect (it'll scrape as you roll him on his wheels).
An interesting if ridiculously souped up vehicle mode. I guess it helps differentiate him from Topspin, and the chainsaw is more play value than most Legions. There are some great sculpted elements like the gatling gun and small missileracks on his rear fenders.
TRANSFORMATION TO ROBOT MODE
Flip the front up, flip out and split the rear to become his legs. Pull out the sides, pivot forward and rotate to become his arms. Stand him up and you're done.
Height: 7.5cm Width: 5.5cm
A largely gunmetal robot with green boots and forearms, Roadbuster has a green and white chest and a green forehead. The Autobot logo is now on his right knee. The black tyres of his vehicle mode are actually a lot more prominent here - on the outsides of his hands and knees.
The poseability is pretty good, with ball joints in his shoulders and hips. Roadbuster has hinged knees and a ball joint anchoring the chainsaw now on his left arm, allowing him to use it as a wrist-mounted weapon in this mode. As with many DOTM toys, Roadbuster's sculpted to stand with his legs somewhat apart. While the poseability is good, the front of the car forms a somewhat heavy backpack, making him topple backwards fairly easily - it takes a second or two usually to get Roadbuster to stand.
A nice robot mode with a very useful weapon considering the size class. The sculpt is good and the poseability good, so while he's tricky to stand this is a good robot mode.
None that I'm aware of.
With a hyped up vehicle mode and a poseable robot mode, Roadbuster works well despite the loss of realism the armoured vehicle mode presents. The chainsaw weapon works really well in both modes, and makes the toy fun on its own. Recommended if you like Legions - 8/10
